2012 Film Diary
For Christmas 2011 I was given a book called That Movie Book by Australian movie critic Marc Fennell. This, which recommends movies of different themes for every weekend of a year, has inspired me to create a list of, view, and try my hand at reviewing as many new films this year as I can. I follow a great many blogs here run by avid cinephiles and thanks in no small part to these lovelies a new interest in the filmmaking process and storytelling techniques used in films has hatched in me. So instead of making a list of resolutions I've decided that 2012 will be Year of the Film Critic. This will be my online film diary, to go with a diary I am keeping in a notebook which I will also use to dabble in writing reviews. I'm not sure if I want to be a professional film critic like Marc Fennell or a screenwriter or anything like that, but it's possible that one day I will, and even if I don't, it's something new and exciting. I spent much of 2011 being bored or sad so here I have it: a whole year or even more of new stories, new characters, new ideas.
